The Ultimate Goal
The ulitmate goal of BodyJuggling can be summed up in a name borrowed from martial arts champion Peter Ralston. “Effortless being” would seem to be a rather simple combination of words but if one truely contemplates the meaning of each word the ramifications are astounding. How would you define being? More difficult than you might have thought, right? Being is one of those words like love, everyone assumes they know what it means but rarely does anyone actually define it. Merriam-Webster defines it as, “the quality or state of having existence.” Hmm, can you think of anything that doesn’t have existence?…
Of course not, because otherwise you just created a state of existence for it. So being is apparently everything. Being is synomymous with existence. Now, what does effortless mean? If we define effort as a conscious exertion of power, then efflortless can be described as anything without conscious exertion of power. In your daily life, how many things can you think of that are without conscious exertion of power? Getting a massage, a hot bath, a burp, a sneeze, sleep (if you’re lucky), laughter, an orgasm (if you’re lucky), etc. Notice anything in common with this brief selection? They are all things that make us feel good. Anything that is effortless makes us feel good. Everything that is natural to our nature is effortless.
So then what is not effortless? The other 95% of our lives when we’re not burping or farting or passing out on the sofa. Stress is not effortless, tension is not effortless, pain, anger, sadness, and regret are not effortless. These things all require effort to maintain them. We spend all day long maintaining all of these uncomfortable states because we believe that our environment creates them.
That is like saying that a movie causes you sadness. In truth, a movie contains no sadness or happiness to give to you. It is only a collection of images and sounds. You create your own interpretation. The sadness you feel comes from inside of you. The movie merely reminds you of it. A person who has never felt that type of sadness would not recieve sadness from the same movie. This is why some people cry and others don’t. Well, that and repression.
BodyJuggling changes our victim based experience of reality by systematically increasing our perceptual boundaries. This process pulls us out of the movie theater, away from the television, the computer, the mirror, the career. As we learn to view the context of our experiences rather than the content, the personal pain we associate with them begins to evaporate.
We focus on cultivating effortlessness in every experience and as we become more and more accustomed to the sensation of effortlessness we begin to carry it further and further into our daily lives. Imagine what life would feel like if you were being massaged for six hours a day. You do not need the massage, the massage only reminds you of the effortlessness you already have inside. At this point it becomes self evident that our mental and emotional states are not dependent on our environment. This is liberation, this is freedom.
Effortless being is freedom in every thought, feeling, and action.
Here is a brief video which explains the seven levels of being and how mastering each level leads us to the exact center of our own awareness. This center is where we discover inner peace, truth, and unconditional love for ourselves and others.
Exercise:
Sit up straight in your chair and let every joint and muscle adjust itself so that you find your body in the most comfortable position humanly possible. Good. Now close your eyes and focus on the sensation of your breath as it moves in and out of your body. Notice that certain parts of this ebb and flow use more effort than others. Next focus all of your attention on letting each inhale and exhale happen with absolutely no effort whatsoever so that no tension is created in this cycle. Do not get frustrated if you find this difficult, simply realize this is your first lesson. How can you breathe effortlessly? You can do it with a little practice. Simply allow the in breath to flow with out any conscious intervention and the out breath will come naturally. Allow each cycle to take the mind and body deeper into effortlessness. Aaaahhhhhhhh.
Assignment:
On the main page write a post and tell me about your experience with effortless. Was it difficult, enjoyable, transformative, or frightening? If you struggled, why do you think this is? If it was easy, why do you think you don’t do it more? What do you think would happen if you did this effortless breathing for 10 minutes everyday? Can you remember everyday for a week?
Congratulations on completing your first week! Take a moment to reflect on what you have learned about yourself and the experiences you have had. Notice that the value of what you have received goes far beyond the few pounds you likely lost. If you have the discipline to stay true to your commitment the weight will continue to drop off and these lessons will deepen each week and expand your perceptions beyond all definable parameters. This expansion of perception will allow the authentic, vital, and passionate life which you have always desired.
To your continued evolution…
Love,

This exercise is very enjoyable.
I try to do this during each massage I give, then in the yoga sessions I teach. Keeps me centered and better able to help others de-stress.
Love and light backatcha!
