Message in a Bottle

Emotions are just messages from the body to the mind. The body is either approving or disapproving of what the mind is doing.  If you imagine every emotion as a message in a bottle floating through your energetic system you will quickly begin to see the importance of receiving, reading and discarding the container for each of these messages. Otherwise you end up with a mighty fine clog of bottles which block the flow of all communication…

Now to go one step further imagine that instead of a piece of paper in each of these bottles there is a tiny you waiting to tell you something very important.  Can you imagine looking at a tiny version of yourself trying to tell you something and ignoring it and letting it float away?  That is the energetic equivalent of not being in touch with your emotions.  That tiny part of you wants to be heard and acknowledged just as much as every other part of you does.

The Emo Trance process is simply one way of allowing this communication to flow between the body and the mind.  There are many other techniques for achieving this same goal.  But, no matter what the technique, once you have cleared an emotion you should look very closely at what is the lesson from this experience. What was this emotion trying to tell you?  The reason this is so important is because recurring emotions tend to develop themselves into patterns, and patterns always repeat themselves.  So if we release an emotion but we do not understand the lesson contained inside of it we are very likely to create the same experience for ourselves again.  This is the emotional equivalent of a person who gets temporary pain relief from a chiropractor just to find that the pain has returned the next day.  If we do not understand the cause of the tension we cannot change our actions in order to avoid these experiences. This is the importance of understanding the difference between processing and integration.

Processing Vs. Integration

Processing is filtering through information and acknowledging your past wounds and baggage.  Processing is the conscious gathering of all of the pieces of your personal puzzle so that you can see them as one solid picture. It is an intellectual understanding of why you have done the things you have done.  Integration, on the other hand, is accepting the lessons from these decisions and experiences into your being in such a way that the patterns are actually released and new possibilities become available. Processing is the knowledge and integration is the change.  Integration allows one to change the patterns of behavior to create more desirable actions and reactions.  One can understand the importance of love, but until one has integrated this into their being they will be unable to experience the reality of love within themselves.

Processing takes place at the level of the mind.  Integration leads one into the level of spirit.  These two aspects of growth are like yin and yang, they are complementary to each other and completely inseparable.  Knowledge leads to understanding, and understanding creates the space for more knowledge.  The ultimate goal is wisdom.  Wisdom is achieved once the cycle of processing and integration have exchanged so many times that no separation can be found between them. This is the realm of Effortless Being.

Exercise:

Close your eyes and return to the movie of your life inside your head.  Watch the images scroll past until you find another that hangs in the frame.  Use the Emo Trance process again to release this emotion completely.  Once your system is balanced and open, relax into your center, take three deep breaths and gently ask yourself what is the moral of this story, what is the lesson?  Allow all thoughts and images to come forth, not judging anything but simply holding a space of presence.  If you discover internal resistance this is beautiful, Emo Trance the sensation then return to the original question. What is the lesson of this story?…What is the lesson of this story?  Depending on the issue the answer or images you receive may not be pleasant but accept them all the same. Remember, acceptance is the most powerful element of healing at all levels of the body, mind and spirit. Continue this process until these thoughts and images cease arising in your awareness.  Now notice any difference in your perception of life and your possibilities in the future.

Assignment:

In the comment section below tell me what this experience felt like. Explain your life patterns of processing patterns and integrating lessons. How have you traditionally acknowledged your patterns and integrated these lessons into your perception and your life?  Finally, explain what the integration from this exercise was like for you.  What images and sensations did you experience, and what was the lesson you brought out of it?  How will this understanding affect your future actions and reactions?
