Day 08: Emotion

Picture

Congratulations on completing your first week of this transformational process.  Take a moment to reflect back on what you have learned about your body, in what ways have your perceptions changed?  Write a comment below this lesson to share with the group.  The more you notice changes in your perception the more quickly you will adapt to each new lesson placed before you.  This is true of the BodyJuggling process specifically, but it is also true of life in general.  Never forget that the only way to measure the value of any technique or process is to notice the relevance it has to your own personal experience of life in general.

Week 2: Emotion

The second level of being is Emotion.  Emotion is visceral reaction to internal or external stimulus.  Emotion is not good or bad, and we do not seek to repress it or escape from it.  Instead we seek to understand it completely by diving directly into it as deeply as we can.  Emotion is a powerful force and it can control our lives for better or worse, so if we learn to understand it’s nature within ourselves we will be equipped to make sure this energy is channeled into constructive pathways no matter what it feels like in the moment.

The most important thing to understand about emotion is that all emotions are transitory, ephemeral, and ultimately temporary.  What does this mean exactly?  It means that all emotions are always changing, all emotions are inherently intangible, and all emotions can only last for a limited period of time.  No matter how long one has carried a specific emotion, eventually it will have to be released. What do you believe decides how long you must experience a particular emotion? Pay very close attention to your answer because it is a self fulfilling prophecy.  You decide how long you need to experience any given emotion.  Any other answer than this is giving away your power to something else.  You must take responsibility for your emotions in order to have any control of your experience with them.  Do not blame your mother, your father, or your husband, or your boss for the feelings you are carrying now.  It is your choice to continue to carry these feelings, and as soon as you understand this your relationship to all of your emotions will shift dramatically. You will no longer fear your emotions but rather you will seek to access any feelings that have been repressed. Once you accept these experiences one by one, the mental patterns they create will then be released.

You will begin creating your emotional experiences with intention and purpose and incredible precision.

Once you accept the responsibility for your own emotions, only then can you go deeply inside of them without the distraction of the story you have attached to them.  The story is a mental pattern we create which assures that this sensory pattern will continue to cycle over and over again.  The feeling reminds you of the story and the story recreates the feeling in a seemingly endless cycle.  The moment one accepts responsibility the cycle is broken because the story becomes inconsequential.  It doesn’t matter who did what, you are deciding to carry this experience with you and you can decide when you are ready to release it.

When our attachment to the story has been released all that is required to release any emotion is to simply sit inside of it and feel every sensation that it generates.  Simply allow yourself to exist with the feeling and notice that the sensation is always moving and changing.  Without a story to attach itself to the emotion has no container and will move and grow and ultimately dissipate in a very tangible way.  Once the nervous system realizes that this energy pattern can move through the system without any obstruction, the fear evaporates and so then does the resistance.  This process is called Emo Trance and it can be used to effectively release emotions of any nature in a matter of minutes, if only one is able to take responsibility for what they are feeling.

Truely open yourself to feeling whatever you are feeling and trust that every feeling has an end.  If you follow the sensations with complete awareness and acceptance you will find the end, and often very quickly.  You may pick a different emotion to clear each day or work with the same emotion over and over if you are not able to release all of it.

The Process

Everything we experience can be expressed through the binary concept of Input and Output. Input is the nature of perception, it is how we receive information about our environment as well as our bodies. Output is action and is how we interact with our environment.  Peace, joy, health and happiness are merely states which occur naturally whenever input and output are allowed to flow freely in both directions.  Pain and suffering are states which occur whenever the mind or body resist flow in either direction.

All emotion is merely a blockage or surge in one or both of these modes of experience, and every blockage is one of two possible reactions: Resistance or Attachment.  Both of these reactions can be experienced during input or output.  Resistance is based in the fear of something and is characterized by non acceptance and avoidance or repression.  Attachment is based in the neurotic need of something and is characterized by desperation, clinging, and even violence if the attachment has become deep enough.  Resistance gives rise to the emotions of fear, anger, apathy, guilt and shame.  Attachment gives rise to the emotions of greed, jealousy, desire, and addiction. Which of these fits your patterns?

It is important to realize that although it would seem that resistance would always involve input and attachment would always involve output, these states can actually be experienced in both.  An example of resistance of input would be someone who cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke, while the attachment of input would be the person who is addicted to smoking.  An example of resistance to output would be someone who loves to sing but is afraid to be heard, while the attachment of output would be the person who is addicted to expressing anger.

The purpose for this weeks session is to create a conscious link between the physical sensations of the body and the emotions that are connected to them.  This increased sensitivity and awareness will make it very easy to notice if an emotion is a blockage in our input or output. Once this is known it becomes clear whether this experience is something we are resisting or something we are attached to.  The answer to this question gives one the protocol for releasing that specific emotion.  If it is something you are attached to allow your heart and mind to release this need and be present with all feelings that resist this.  If the emotion is something you are resisting allow your heart and mind to accept that thing and respect it’s right to exist just like everything else and accept all sensations that come with this.

The Tools

Emo Trance stands for emotional transformation and is a neuro-linguistic programming technique designed to take each practicioner directly into the center of any particular emotion and release this holding pattern in a matter of minutes. The only secret to this process is acceptance. Acceptance of what one is feeling, and acceptance of the story we have attached to this feeling.

Acceptance is the most important element in releasing any emotion. Acceptance of what is in the case of resistance, and acceptance of what is not in the case of attachment.

There are only three basic techniques we will be using to explore the depths of acceptance within ourselves: Feel, Focus, and Release.  During the week your goal will be to feel every emotion you experience completely.  Next use this feeling to locate the center of this emotion in your body, where do you store this sensation, what is it’s size and shape?  Finally, you will follow the sensation as it moves through the body until you feel it completely release and leave your system.

Exercise:

Allow your life to play in reverse on a screen in front of your mind’s eye.  See it playing in fast reverse and notice the first image that gets stuck in the frame.  It might be from last week, or it might be from Jr. High school.  Notice what image hangs in the frame and then notice what emotion is attached to it.  Where do you feel this emotion in your body? Locate the exact spot this sensation lives.  Now focus intently on that trigger, the image, see it as vividly as you can and allow every memory that comes with it to flood through your mind. As you do notice the sensation and imagine it beginning to spin. Which direction is it spinning? Can you feel it? As the sensation spins faster allow the edges to become fuzzy and as they do the sensation will begin to pull in a certain direction. Follow this sensation.  Continuing to focus on the trigger and anything associated with it, follow this sensation as it moves through your body. Visualize the sensation turning into mist as is flows like water through your system.

Now, begin to search for where this sensation wants to exit your body. It could leave from anywhere so just open yourself and see which direction it goes. Once you have found the exit point, allow every bit of the sensation to pour out of your body as you visualize what it looks like.  When every last bit of this energy is gone, return to the beginning of this exercise and do this process again letting everything happen faster this time.  Repeat the process a third time and allow the sensations to shoot through the body at the speed of light.  Continue this process again and again until you can no longer find any sensations connected to this image.

Congratulations, you just released your first emotional blockage!  How do you feel now?  Does it seem weird to suddenly have no reaction to something that has habitually created a standard emotional reaction?

Assignment:

Write a post to the main page telling me what this experience was like for you. If the memory wasn’t too private tell me what it was and what the sensation felt like?  Was it easy or difficult, painful or pleasant?  Can you feel a difference in the neurological associations of this memory and the sensations in your body?  If you had your pick, which emotional blockage would you decide to release next?

Then jump into your first session for this week by pressing the play button below.  Prepare yourself for more work and more physical challenges than last week.  This is the progressive process of evolution.  Welcome to the game;)

Stay in your center, and free yourself!

Peace,

SaTek
